Romantic backyard wedding in Lexington, Kentucky

I first met Kate and Gary last year during their engagement shoot. They chose a small farm location. It was freezing, but they were all smiles. It was clear to me from that moment that they were ready to weather anything that life threw at them.

As it turns out, they needed that kind of positive attitude and flexibility to deal with COVID-19. Having to cancel their dream venue and make peace with many of their loved ones not attending their wedding, they still managed to plan and execute a beautiful backyard wedding in the heart of horse country.

When we arrived, we first met at Gary’s sister’s farm where the bridesmaids were getting ready. Gary wrote Kate a touching letter, the girls did a champagne toast and helped each other get ready. We then headed to the ceremony site which was shaded under a canopy of trees. Kate and Gary got married surrounded by those closest to them.

They had their reception at Gary’s mom’s house. A beautifully decorated and catered backyard soiree. It was such a great day- full of laughs and tears, and promises of a life long future together. I hope you enjoy this short story of their day.
